Hi All,
As everyone would be aware, many major sporting events are being cancelled due to the potential spread of COVID 19, or Coronavirus.
Tennis Australia have put out some guidelines relating to this, which you can read in the attachment.
Tennis Geelong events will continue as planned at this point in time, but clubs and individuals should adhere to the following:
Clubs should have hand sanitiser made available and advertised (if you have been able to locate any). If this has not been possible, hand soap should be available on every sink within the club facility
Clubs should ensure proper hygiene standards are met with any BBQ or food preparation on their site
Clubs should ensure bathrooms and kitchens are cleaned on a regular basis (see TA guidelines)
Individuals should practice good hygiene and wash their hands with sanitiser/soap regularly
Individuals should not share water bottles, towels etc with other individuals, and should not leave them lying around
Individuals who are concerned about spread of the virus, and do not wish to shake hands at the end of their sets, should respectfully tell their opposition this, and players can put racquet heads together and shake this way or correct etiquette of thanking and congratulating your opponent and the umpires is appropriate
We will keep you updated as more information comes to hand, but we ask that everyone be respectful of others and their property, and be mindful of the potential impact of your actions.
We ask you share this information with all players and umpires prior to play tomorrow.
Kind regards,
Tennis Geelong Executive Committee
